Renovations, Demolition, and Salvations!

Dear friends,

God is moving in our church - exciting things are happening! We are seeing new people visiting the church every week, and people are getting saved, delivered, healed, and seeing breakthroughs in their lives! The last couple of Sundays, we have experienced God's presence in powerful ways, and are seeing new people getting involved on the worship team as well. There is such an excitement and a positive energy surrounding our building project - expanding our auditorium to accommodate our growing church family. Here are some photos of the work that's been done in the last 24 hours - what a change! Although we will be out of our building for the next few Sundays (we will be meeting at Edward Schreyer Secondary School on Fifth Avenue right behind our church), we are looking forward to seeing this building project completed soon, and returning to praise the Lord together in our new facility!

Hunger for Supernatural Breakthrough

Dear friends,

“O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory.” (Psalm 63:1-2).

Do you need a supernatural breakthrough in your life? Are you tired of the usual? Do you need more joy, peace, strength or vision in your life? Do you need a breakthrough in your health, finances, or relationships? Our God is the Lord of the breakthrough, and He is ready to come in and radically transform your life. Jacob encountered the God of the breakthrough, and the Lord gave him a new nature and a new name. David and the sons of Korah were hungry and thirsty for more of God in their lives. Blind Bart was desperate from a touch from Jesus, and His perseverance paid off - He's not blind anymore! And in my life, I came to a place many years ago where I wanted to go deeper in my personal relationship with Jesus, and started hungering and thirsting for more of God in my life, and I wasn't disappointed.

If you need a breakthrough in your life, I encourage you to take a listen to our message from this past Sunday morning entitled "Hunger for Supernatural Breakthrough." These stories and testimonies in this message are a prophetic call to go deeper in Jesus, and to experience everything that Jesus made available to you through His death on the Cross. This message is designed to stir up your hunger and inspire you to press in for a breakthrough in your life. To download this MP3, click HERE. (Also, you can download the text of this message by clicking HERE).

“For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring.” (Isaiah 44:3).

Hungry,

A Must-Read Book: "Honor's Reward"

Dear friends,

Those of you who know me know that I love to read, and I like sharing my joy of reading with others. If you read only one book this year to help you in your spiritual growth, this is my recommendation. Honor's Reward by John Bevere is a must-read!

In HONOR'S REWARD, bestselling author John Bevere unveils the power and truth of an often-overlooked principle- the spiritual law of honor. If you understand the vital role of this virtue, you will attract blessing both now and for eternity.

In characteristic fashion, John Bevere digs deep into Scripture to show that how you value, respect, and treats others determines their rewards. He begins with God's promise: "Those who honor me I will honor." This insightful book teaches readers how to extend honor to the Creator, family members, authorities, and those who fill your world.

John demonstrates how popular culture fights against the practice of honoring parents, leaders, and children as well as society's resistance to authority and the consequences of that disobedience.

This amazing book reveals the secret to receiving more of God's blessings through honor... and in doing so, revolutionizes your faith.

John Bevere has written three of the most powerful Christian books I have ever read. Honor's Reward is one of them, and the other two are Driven by Eternity and Under Cover. Pick up any of theses book today from your local Christian book store!

Celebrating 14 Years with 7 Random Facts

Dear friends,

The Bible says: “Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favour from the LORD.” (Proverbs 18:22). This week, I am celebrating my 14th wedding anniversary with my wife, Liza. We were married on March 25th, 1995 in Surrey, BC. I thank God for the wonderful gift that He has given to me! “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” (James 1:17).

Let me tell you a little bit about our story. Liza and I met at Victory Christian Centre in Surrey, BC, in the spring of 1993. I was interning as the assistant youth pastor at the church, and our youth group was getting ready to go on a missions trip to Mexico that summer. Liza had moved out to Surrey, BC from Winnipeg, and had just started coming to our church. She had gone on a couple of missions trips to Mexico before, and knew how to speak a little Spanish, so she came on the missions trip with us. Over the next year, Liza and I became the best of friends, and in May of 1994, we started dating each other. Two months later – on my birthday, in fact (a birthday present to myself) - we were engaged. On March 25th, I married my best friend.

I have greatly enjoyed the past 14 years with Liza, and I am so grateful to the Lord for the blessing she has been to my life! The Lord has blessed us with four wonderful children. Our oldest son, Caleb, will turn 13 in June this year. Our daughter Victoria turned 11 last month, our son, Austin, turned 9 just before Christmas, and Hannah is six. I praise God for my family, and I also thank God for the incredible privilege of being able to serve Him in full time pastoral ministry, with my wife Liza by my side.

Just for fun, here are 7 random facts about Liza and I and our relationship that you may or may not know about us...

1. Liza and I first met at a youth event at our church, Victory Christian Centre, where the youth were having a burping contest. Liza entered this competition, and beat out all of the junior high guys!

2. Liza and I went to the West Edmonton Mall for our honeymoon (the girl loves to shop!), and while we were there for a week, we hit the amusement park, water park, mini-golf, dolphin shows, movies, restaurants, and yes, even a little shopping.

3. My best man at our wedding was Jerrold Lewis, the man who led me to the Lord. Liza's maid of honour was Jen Windle, who she met at YWAM (Youth With a Mission) almost 20 years ago and they are still best friends to this day.

4. Liza is older than me (I won't tell you by how much!).

5. One of our favourite past-times is, after we put the kids to bed at night, sitting down and watching old TV series on DVD while eating various appetizers like nachos and cheese or hot wings. We're currently going through Everybody Loves Raymond.

6. Although one of my favourite 'pet-names' for my wife is Liza Jane, her middle name isn't Jane. It's Dawn. Her full first name is Elizabeth. Mine is Christopher.

7. Liza and I both grew up on the prairies. She was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, I grew up in Rouleau, Saskatchewan (AKA Dog River, of Corner Gas fame!).

That's it! Anyway, I'm praying today that the Lord would bless you and your family with His love, joy, peace and strength...

Lots of love,

Pastor Chris

Supernatural Breakthrough

SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH:
This Sun. Mar. 22nd:

Do you feel like you are stuck? Does it seem like you're wandering, going in circles, but you're not getting anywhere? Are you in need of a breakthrough in your life? God's Word gives us three keys to experiencing a supernatural breakthrough: Hunger, Holiness, and Honor. Come and join us this Sunday morning, not just for a message, but for a time of prayer for breakthrough in your life. This is our prayer heading into this weekend:

"Oh, that You would rend the heavens! That You would come down! That the mountains might shake at Your presence... When You did awesome things for which we did not look, You came down, The mountains shook at Your presence. For since the beginning of the world Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, Nor has the eye seen any God besides You, Who acts for the one who waits for Him." (Isaiah 64:1-4).

"So David went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said, "The Lord has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water." Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim (The Lord of the Breakthrough)." (2 Sam. 5:20).

We're believing God for BREAKTHROUGH in people's lives this Sunday morning!

25 Days Until Easter - Let's Look to Jesus!

Dear friends,

“Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the priceless gain of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I may have Christ… that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.” (Phil. 3:8,10).

Therefore, we are going to begin a devotional journey through the life of Jesus today, focusing specifically on the Gospel of Mark. The First Ten Words

Dear friends,

The Bible says that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. It's so important that we saturate our hearts and minds with the eternal truths of God's living, powerful Word! Here is a LINK to our audio messages page, and a listing of our first 10 sermons of 2009. I encourage you to download the MP3's, subscribe to our podcasts, or order CD copies of these messages so you can grow in your faith, and step into God's glorious destiny for your life!

1. The Word of God is Living and Powerful
Hebrews 4:12-4:12
The Word of God is living and powerful, and it has the power to transform your life today. We are going to look at seven reasons why Bible study will change your life, and how to study the Bible.

2. Christ in YOU - the Hope of Glory
Colossians 1:24-1:27
The Bible talks about Christ in you, the hope of glory. What does that mean? And if we really believed that, how could it transform our lives?

3. When Our Strength is Gone
1 Samuel 30:1-30:19
What do you do when your strength is gone, and you lose your hope, joy, peace and victory? God’s Word gives us four keys to restoring our strength and victory.

4. Gifts #1: Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts
1 Peter 4:10-4:10
God has given everyone spiritual gifts. Our job is to discover and develop those gifts so that we can be a blessing to others.

5. How’s Your Love Life?
John 13:34-13:35
Jesus said our love for one another would be the sign that we were His true disciples. We will never fully be able to love one another until we know and believe the love that God has for us.

6. God’s Design for Love, Sex and Relationships
Genesis 1:27-1:28
God created us to be loving, relational, sexual beings, and when we follow God’s design and purpose for these things, we will experience satisfaction, fulfillment and pleasure.

7. Gifts #2: The Gifts of the Holy Spirit
1 Corinthians 12:7-12:11
God wants us to discover and develop our spiritual gifts. This teaching is an overview of the gifts of the Holy Spirit in 1 Cor. 12 with a focus on prophecy and tongues.

8. Gifts #3: Unwrapping the Gifts
Romans 12:4-12:11
God has given everyone spiritual gifts. Our job is to discover and develop those gifts so that we can be a blessing to others. This illustrated message is an overview of the gifts in Romans 12.

9. The Kingdom of God #1: Happily Ever After
Matthew 22:1-22:14
God has invited us to enter into the Kingdom of God and experience a transformed life. Like the story of Cinderella, we are destined to live happily ever after in Heaven with the Prince of Peace Jesus.

10. The Kingdom of God #2: Building the Kingdom
Ephesians 2:21-2:22
Noah. Moses. Ezra. Nehemiah. What did these four men have in common? They were building an invisible Kingdom, and nothing was going to stop them from accomplishing that task.

A New Thing is SPRINGING FORTH!

Dear friends,
"Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." (Isaiah 43:19).

I know, I know, it's been a long time since I've updated my blog, and let you know what's been happening in my life. Things have been so busy around the church lately! On March 8th, we had an informal congregational meeting after church, and met to discuss our current building project. We are continuing to see steady and continual growth at the church, with new visitors every Sunday, and our services are almost filled to capacity. It's time to build! So at this meeting, our church membership voted on whether or not to get a loan to continue moving forward with our building project, and - after hearing the vision and the plans - 100% of our membership in attendance voted to obtain a loan to move forward with our building plans. Two days later, the Foursquare national office had their monthly meeting and approved our loan application, and on top of that, they are giving us a $10,000 grant towards our building project! And so we are getting ready to expand our existing auditorium, to provide more seating for our growing church family.

We are rejoicing in a prophetic promise the Lord has given us from Isaiah 54:2-4: "Clear lots of ground for your tents! Make your tents large. Spread out! Think big! Use plenty of rope, drive the tent pegs deep. You're going to need lots of elbow room for your growing family. You're going to take over whole nations; you're going to resettle abandoned cities. Don't be afraid - you're not going to be embarrassed. Don't hold back - you're not going to come up short." It's been amazing to see the favour of God in this project right from the beginning - it is moving forward so quickly, we can totally see God's hand in it.

Now some people would ask, "Why are you spending your time, money and energy on this building project? Why can't you just be content with having a nice little church on the street corner? It's not about counting people, it's about knowing people count!" And although it is true that we're not concerned about numbers just for the sake of numbers, we are also firmly convinced that Jesus Christ is the answer to all of the problems that mankind is facing today, and that He offers hope, healing and restoration through God's Word. We have the message of eternal life and transformation, and we want to see as many people as possible come to know the peace and joy that only Jesus gives! So we are building the kingdom of God, and we are excited about seeing more people being able to come to know the Good News of God's love for the world!

As we're heading into this spring season, our prayer is that you would experience new life in Christ - new beginnings, new hope, new peace, new joy, new freedom and new victory over sin, sickness, depression, lack. Winter is passing away, spring is coming!

Jordan Family News Update

Dear friends,

I know, I know - it's been a long time since I've written an update on how our family is doing! It's amazing how quickly the first two months of 2009 flew by... and hard to believe that we're in March. So here are a few notes on some of our latest happenings, with pictures to help me tell the tale!

#1 - Our family spent the day with Liza's sister Heather's family at the Winterfest on Louis Riel Day at the Sungrow Centre. Thankfully, it wasn't anywhere near as cold this year as it was last year! Although there weren't a lot of different activities going on, the kids did get a chance to go skating, and we went on a sleigh ride too.
#2 - Where's Waldo? Remember that old kids book where you had to find Waldo in the midst of the picture with a million other people? Well, Waldo's not on the sleigh ride, nor are there a million people - but how many Jordan kids can you find on the sleigh?
#3 - February 22nd - Tori's eleventh birthday. We celebrated her party at Grandma's house in Winnipeg, with aunts and uncles and cousins (oh my!). Most of her presents were clothes for her Build-a-Bear dog, Buddy, and arts and crafts supplies. On the following Friday night, Tori had a friends' birthday party with six friends from school and church who came over for ice cream sundaes, presents, Rock Band, High School Musical 3, a sleepover, and a pancake breakfast in the morning - courtesy of dad of course!
#4 - Goodbye, Jack Bauer! This past week, we said goodbye to Cooper's puppy, Jack. We got Jack back at the end of the summer last year, but we realized that we weren't a two-dog family, so Jack is no longer with us, and Cooper's gone back to being an 'only-dog'. We are happy though that we were able to find a good home for Jack with a family from our church, where he will be loved and cared for!
Well, that's just a little update, but I'll post some more photos on facebook, too... check them out!

It's Time to Build!

Dear congregation of BCC,

These are great days to be living in as we are seeing the Kingdom of God growing on the Earth, amen? There was such an exciting atmosphere this past Sunday morning as we celebrated the goodness of the Lord together in a full house - with about 135-140 in attendance I believe!

It's time to build. As you know, our building project is well underway, and we are wanting to complete the whole project as quickly as possible, to accommodate our growing church family. Therefore, we are going to have a congregational meeting this Sunday, March 8th at 12:00 pm, immediately following our morning service. Some of the items that we will look at and discuss at this meeting are:

1. The new plans for our complete building project, which includes expanding our existing auditorium with more space for more seating, adding a nursery adjacent to the auditorium, which would include audio piped in from the service, as well as a two-way mirror to see into the auditorium, and more.

2. The proposal to our active membership to vote upon to obtain a loan from the Foursquare national office so that we can complete our project sooner rather than later, and then commit to participate in a building program to pay off the money in a timely manner. I encourage you to make plans to join us for this meeting after church so we can discuss these things together as we look towards the future of our community church in Beausejour.

Let's pray together and believe God for His hand to be upon all of the contractors, builders and craftsmen involved in this project, and believe for them to have His wisdom in doing everything that they do. Pray that it will all be done in a timely fashion, with as little disruption as possible to our Sunday morning services. And let's pray also for the Lord to provide all of the funds necessary to complete this project!

May the Lord Jesus richly bless you and your family today!
