The Elders - Who Are They & What Do They Do?

BEAUSEJOUR COMMUNITY CHURCH ELDERS:

Who are they, and what do they do?

“And now, a word to you who are elders in the churches. As a fellow elder, this is my appeal to you: Care for the flock of God entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly, not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God. Don't lord it over the people assigned to your care, but lead them by your good example.” (1 Peter 5:1-3).

The elders assist the lead pastor in the pastoral care of the people. They are godly men and women, rich in love and life experiences. Although each one is unique, and their spiritual gifts are varied, they share a common care for the BCC family. Additionally, elders prayerfully work with the pastor to sense God’s direction and guidance for the congregation. Together they set the vision that will shape our ministry endeavours. Our elders are available to serve you. This dedicated group is called to care through prayer, counsel, teaching, and visitation. Don’t hesitate to contact them.

Elders are not elected or appointed but rather recognized. Elders are encouraged to pursue a lifestyle that is in keeping with the ethical and spiritual qualities found in 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1 and 1 Peter 5. If an individual senses that particular call on their lives and they are willing to live their lives in accordance with the verses outlined, as well as the established requirements of the leadership, they are presented to the church for affirmation and acknowledgement.

The pastor and elders of BCC want to submit to you Alvin and Zenda Rueckert. We ask you, the congregation at BCC, to consider this addition. If you have any thoughts/concerns please feel free to talk to Pastor Chris. There will be a two week time frame for your input. After that time if the leadership feels to proceed, we will bring them forward on a Sunday morning to be prayed for and released to this ministry.

ADDING TO THE ELDERSHIP:

ALVIN & ZENDA RUECKERT:
Alvin was born and raised in a Christian home in Whitemouth, MB. He gave his life to the Lord at an early age, and had many struggles along the way. During his walk with the Lord he has served on church boards and taught adult Sunday school. Currently Alvin is involved on the church council at BCC, and occasionally ministers the Word on Sunday mornings. Alvin is currently employed with Husqvarna Canada as a Territory Manager. Zenda was born and raised on a small farm in Southeastern Saskatchewan. She came to know the Lord later in life and has sought his direction ever since. Zenda is currently employed by Health Canada as a TB case coordinator. She loves the Lord and wishes to continue serving the Lord in what ever way He chooses to use her. Since being married they have both recommitted their lives to the Lord and have been serving the Lord. Currently Alvin and Zenda are serving together by hosting and leading one of our weekly home groups. During the past year this home group explored marriage and the relationship between God, husband and wife. It has been wonderful to see God move in marriages and be glorified through the lives of people.

Blessings...

Pastor Chris Jordan
