Caleb's Music Night

Dear friends,
Caleb had his year-end music concert tonight... playing the cello. He is an amazing and gifted cello player, and tonight, he won an award for excellence, one of only two students in grade 6 who received it!
One proud papa,
Chris

Overboard - PLBC Cross Canada Tour

Dear friends,

What a blessing it was to host the Pacific Life Bible College's Cross Canada tour team at BCC last night! There were many familiar faces in their team of 10 - students that I had taught when I was an adjunct professor at PLBC in Surrey, BC not too many years ago. This group of young adults put on a great presentation based on the life of the disciple Peter, and ministered through praise and worship, skits, human videos, testimonies and more. We ended off the night with a time of fellowship over coffee, tea and goodies. It was grrrrrrrreat! Here are some photos from the event, including a group shot of the team just before they left our house for Saskatchewan this morning. Enjoy...

A Dance, A Prince, and Revival!

Dear friends,

What a week! I've been so busy lately I haven't had a chance to blog about my recent happenings. I am glad to report though that things have been going well with our family and the church.

On Thursday night, we took the family into the city for Hannah's dance recital (see photos below) and were blessed by the amazing performances done by the Masterworks dance studio. It was great!

On Saturday, we took the kids to see Narnia: Prince Caspian - a movie I highly recommend to all of you! It is an action adventure movie, so some of the scenes may be a little intense for really young children, but I was absolutely thrilled with Adamson's adaptation of CS Lewis' novel. I am also excited about the number of people who will no doubt be drawn into reading the whole Chronicles of Narnia series as a results of watching this great movie, and thereby exposed to many great Biblical truths through the allegories he uses. To read a full review of the movie, and to determine its appropriateness for you and your family, see Focus on the Family's review HERE: http://www.pluggedinonline.com/movies/movies/a0004056.cfm.

We had a great service this past Sunday morning as we started our series on revival. I preached that God’s desire is that this latter day’s church would be greater in glory and power than the church was in the book of Acts. It’s time to contend for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our midst today, and pray for revival. I felt such an unction in the Spirit - a freedom and an anointing as I was preaching - and could sense the hunger and thirst in the hearts of the congregation that mirrored my own desire for more of God in my own life.

Tonight, we had a practice with Caleb & Tori's team. Click HERE to see photos. Our next soccer game is on Wednesday night in town here in Beausjeour, and we are hoping for our first big "W" - our first win.

Anyway, hope you're having an awesome week... may the Lord Jesus richly bless you and your family!

Lots of love,

Pastor Chris

I See a Near Revival!

Dear friends,

Are you excited in your spirit about what God is doing in our midst, and getting ready to do in the coming days? I've been listening to this great song by Hillsongs lately called Hosanna (from their Saviour King album)...

  • "I see a generation, Rising up to take their place... With selfless faith, With selfless faith.
  • I see a near revival, Stirring as we pray and seek... We're on our knees, We're on our knees.
  • Heal my heart and make it clean, Open up my eyes to the things unseen
  • Show me how to love like you have loved me.
  • Break my heart from what breaks yours, Everything I am for your kingdoms cause
  • As I go from earth to eternity."

For the next four weeks, we are going to look at the topic of REVIVAL... would you agree together with me in prayer for a fresh and mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our midst? Here's a look at the next few Sundays...

SUNDAY MORNINGS:

  • May 18th - Revival #1: The Need for Revival (stirring up our hunger for more of God).
  • May 25th - Revival #2: The Fullness of the Holy Spirit (we will pray for people to be filled with the Holy Spirit and for a release of the Gifts of the Spirit)
  • June 1st - Revival #3: Healing School (this will be a healing and miracle service - please be praying for many people to come out who are sick, and for many miracles to happen!).

TUESDAY MORNING PRAYER MEETINGS:

A note about our Tuesday morning prayer meeting (5:30 - 6:30 am). There is such an urgency in my spirit to seek God in prayer and prepare for what God is wanting to do in our midst, that we are going to meet for prayer every Tuesday for the next three weeks - for anyone who is able to come. I would love to have you come and join us, but if you cannot, I want to challenge you to agree together with me in prayer for a mighty move of God in our midst!!

THE GOD CHASERS - PASTOR'S BOOK RECOMMENDATION OF THE MONTH:
One of the things I do in my personal life to keep stirring up my hunger for more of God is to regularly engage in spiritual reading... books that challenge me to go deeper in my relationship with the Lord. The God Chasers is one of those books, and we are going to make copies of them available for you to purchase this Sunday morning. Here's a brief synopsis of the book.

Does your heart yearn to have an intimate relationship with your Lord? Perhaps you long to draw closer to your heavenly Father, but you don't know how or where to start. The God Chasers will help you begin a journey that will change your life. A God chaser is one whose passion for God's presence compels him to live in uninterrupted pursuit of the Father. A child chases a loving parent until, suddenly, the strong arms of the father enfold the chaser. The pursuer becomes the captive; the pursued, the captor.

Let's get ready... for REVIVAL! "Oh, that You would rend the heavens! That You would come down! That the mountains might shake at Your presence...When You did awesome things for which we did not look, You came down, The mountains shook at Your presence." (Isaiah 64:1,3).

Praying for revival,
Pastor Chris

Ladies Spring Celebration Report

Dear friends,

This morning, my beloved wife hosted our ladies ministry's spring celebration. The morning started with Liza doing a great job of MC'ing, welcoming the ladies, telling jokes, and handing out door prizes. After that, Bill and I waited on the tables and served the amazing brunch, prepared by Liza's sister, Heather (thanks for that!). The meal consisted of: Quiche Lorraine, spinach salad, homemade biscuits, nanaimo bars and raspberry macaroon squares - it was delicious! (Yes, the pastor got to partake of the sumptuous feast, one of the perks of being one of the waiters!). After the brunch, Kim did a presentation on flower arrangements, after which Liza shared a powerful dramatic monologue on trusting God that really ministered to the ladies. (I'm trying to convince her to do one of her dramas in front of the congregation on a Sunday morning - we'll see...). It was a great morning, and I am excited about what I know the Lord is going to continue to do in and through our ladies ministry. Praise the Lord!

Lots of love,
Pastor Chris

The Quest Has Begun!

Dear friends,

I have been meeting in our middle school since January of this year with about a dozen different grade 6-8 students. Last week, I decided to introduce the "Quest" video series to this group, and at our first meeting with the videos, we had doubled our attendance with about 24 students, hungry to learn more about the meaning of life. It was awesome!

What is Quest, you ask?
QUEST has been described as multimedia church on steroids, as it seeks to take the message of Christianity and present it in a relevant and creative way. Large numbers of today's young people do not have the chance to explore issues of faith in the public education system. QUEST is an ideal tool to present this opportunity.

We believe that every young person has the right to his or her own opinion and deserves to be heard. QUEST strives to bring the truth of Jesus Christ to every individual through focused questions rather than forced-fed dogma. We feel it is crucial for individuals to work through ultimate issues in an open forum that values each person present. No questions or opinions are unwelcome. Community and relationship building are keys to life change and Quest has been specifically designed to integrate these elements.

QUEST is divided into seven sessions. Each session is designed to present Christianity in a non-threatening way. The goal of QUEST is not to sensationalize or manipulate impressionable minds, but to help interested students explore issues of faith from a Christian perspective and to aid them in their individual journey's to find truth.
